Hertfordshire Health Walks – Mill End Community Centre – Wednesdays at 11.00 o`clock. Is a FREE countywide initiative, helping everyone get outdoors, get more active and experience the social, health and wellbeing benefits. It is also a great social prescribing scheme helping the patient and freeing up GP time aiming to take a holistic approach to improve health. The walks are a great opportunity to meet new people and socialise on a weekly basis within supportive and encouraging volunteer-led groups. Many of our walkers have experienced health and wellbeing benefits such as weight loss, increased confidence, and reduced dependence on diabetic and anti-hypertensive medication and we have seen walkers from Mill End really benefit from all that the walks offer.
In 1975 The Mill End & District Community Association was formed and registered with the charity commission. The old school became vacant and our forward thinking group lobbied the County Council and were allowed to use the building paying a rent initially.
Then in 1980 they had raised enough money to purchase the property.
It is now held in trust by the holding trustees unless the Community centre closes. Which we hope it never does!
Com – Unity is so important for all of us as a collective, learning to accept and get on with each other knowing we are different but respecting diversity. Isn’t that what makes life so colourful, joyous and interesting.
It is August already and as September comes round I hope we will have lots going for all shapes and sizes.
