Volunteering & Donating
We run our own in-house projects, such as Community Cafe & Supper Nights, Community Job Club & English Classes. If you would like to support us by volunteering at Community Cafe or Job Club, please call into the office for a chat ( Mon-Fri 9.30 am – noon).
Our Community Cafe team are offering anyone, aged 18 and over, the experience to work in their kitchen on a Wednesday morning, from 8.30 am – 1 pm.
They will learn all the skills necessary to run a cafe and will have assistance in passing their Certificate in Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene.
We have a very friendly team, who will provide the training. After the basics have been learned, the new team member will shadow the chef, with a view to being able to take charge occasionally in the future.
This is a work experience opportunity, so is unpaid, but will provide a great way to enhance your CV and to gain the Level 2 qualification, not to mention making new friends and learning new skills!
If you already hold a current Level 2 F & C qualification and would like to volunteer, please also get in touch.
If you are interested, please contact Sue Gambula on 01923 493344 (9.30 – 12 noon Mon-Fri) or email Di on email@example.com subject ‘Cafe Work Experience’, giving your name and contact details.
In addition, we are experimenting with a new way of donating when you shop online. Easyfundraising.org.uk has linked up with major retailers and travel companies, so that if you shop via the link below, rather than the retailer’s own website, you can donate to us:

We wish to continue serving our local community through our cafe / evening supper activities and also in helping individuals who enrol in our Job Club to gain in self-confidence; to understand that they matter and that they have something of value to offer both their local community and to a potential employer; to discover and polish the skills they have to offer an employer. We give one to one help to those seeking our assistance in their journey to employment; we help people in a variety of circumstances, from the age of 18- 60+. This is something that Job Centre Plus does not offer. In addition, we encourage volunteering as a way to increase confidence and skills and when possible, offer volunteering opportunities in our cafe; in job club and in admin. For those whose English is their 2nd language, we can refer individuals to our new English for beginners classes; in turn, this will also help them in securing employment as well as helping them to settle in to life here in the community.
We thank you for your support in our endeavours to help Mill End Community come together and thrive!
