Adult First Aid Class

Mill End Community Centre 6th March

Would you know what to do in a medical emergency?

In just 2 hours you will learn the skills and knowledge required to be able to save a life…….this is one of the most important skills that you can ever learn. ?
In this class you will learn what to do if you were caught up in an emergency involving a family member, friend or as a bystander. In December 2022, the average response time for people requiring an ambulance for a stroke, severe burns, or chest pain was 93 minutes*. It is so important to be prepared and know what to do in an emergency situation so that you can make a real difference while waiting for help to arrive.
Early CPR and defibrillation can double the chances of surviving a heart attack outside of hospital*. There has never been a more important time to learn the basics of First Aid.
This two-hour class covers CPR, heart attacks, using a defibrillator, strokes, burns, bleeds, severe allergic reaction, using an Epi Pen, choking, seizures, breaks and more. Our training is backed up by the latest in medical research updates and The CPD Standards Office accredits this class.
As with our baby & child First Aid classes, our adult awareness classes are fun, engaging and memorable. You’ll take away a wealth of knowledge and a 40-page comprehensive first aid manual covering all of the life-saving advice from the class.
Gather your family or a group of friends for a private class or book onto a public class running near you.

Art Well-Being Course

HERE IT IS – THE LONG POST YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR:

We can finally share details of the subsidised courses we have available for the next academic year, funded by S2S.

Keep scrolling, there are LOTS of them to choose from!

Please read the FAQs below before booking, or if you are unsure of anything.

If that doesn’t answer your question, please reply to this email, or contact Niki Craft on:  niki.craft@communitylearningpartnership.org.uk

Or call the office between 10am and 2pm weekdays or text us on 07576 167776.

WHO CAN ATTEND THESE COURSES?

These funded places are available for Herts residents aged 19 and over and priority must go to them.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIVE IN HERTS?

If you do not live in Herts, you may still apply. If there is a space, near the start date of the course, you may be offered a place.

In this case, you will be charged an additional premium of either £25 (for shorter courses) or £50 (for 12-week courses).

HOW MANY COURSES CAN I ATTEND?

If you live in Herts, in the coming academic year, starting in September, you can attend one type ‘A’ AND one type ‘B’ course with CLP.

CAN I ATTEND MORE THAN ONE ‘A’ AND ‘B’ COURSE IN A YEAR?

You may only attend one course in each funding type.

Again, if there is a space to fit you on a second course, we will offer you the place near to the start of the course and the additional premium will also apply.

HOW DO I BOOK?

Please book online by clicking on the appropriate link in this post or scanning the QR code on the flyer.

You will be taken to our booking page where you will need to complete an enrolment form and make online payment.

I CAN’T ADD A PHOTO OF MY ID TO THE ONLINE FORM. HOW DO I PROCEED?

You can skip that part and simply bring some ID to your first session. A driving licence, debit card etc is fine.

We will just check you are who you say you are and will hand it straight back.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF I HAVE A PLACE?

When the course is full, we will email you to confirm whether you have a place as soon as possible.

I CAN’T AFFORD THE FEE. CAN YOU HELP WITH THAT?

If you are struggling financially, please email, in confidence, niki.craft@communitylearningpartnership.org.uk to ask for a discount code that may be used for one course of each type.

We have a small pot of donations that we can use to reduce or remove your fee.

WHERE WILL THE COURSES TAKE PLACE?

We have courses running at several lovely venues across Herts, as well as a few online.

Each venue has disabled access and hot drinks are available at each one.

Please check each flyer for details.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE FIRST SESSION?

Bring ID if you haven’t uploaded it. You might like to bring a cold drink, notebook, and pen.

If you are taking part in an art course an apron would be a good idea.

All resources are included in our courses.

I’M FEELING A BIT NERVOUS ABOUT COMING FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Our small team of dedicated staff tries hard to ensure everyone receives a warm welcome.

We see many learners who struggle with anxiety; you are not alone.

If your course is at St Martin’s (our base in South Oxhey) we are very happy to arrange for you to come and meet us, and see the classroom space, before the start of the course.

We can show you around the building so that you know what to expect on your first session.

We have a dedicated ‘quiet space’ that anyone may retreat to for some space whilst here at St Martin’s.

If your course is at another venue, we can still try to accommodate you in the same way, but it may take a bit longer to set up.

DO I HAVE TO FILL IN AN ENROLMENT FORM AND THEN SOME PAPERWORK AT EACH SESSION?

Yes, this is a requirement of the funder.

If you do not complete the relevant paperwork, we will not receive any funding for your place and would then be unable to accept further bookings from you for subsidised courses.

CAN A CHILD UNDER 19 ATTEND ONE OF THESE COURSES?

No, this funding is for adult learners only. We do run family art courses out of term time, which you may attend together.

Rickmansworth Aikido Club

Dear All,

I hope this week is treating you well.

I am writing to introduce you to our new group – Rickmansworth Aikido Club.

Aikido is now practiced in around 140 countries. Aikido is often translated as “the way of unifying (with) life energy or as “the way of harmonious spirit”. According to the founder’s philosophy, the primary goal in the practice of aikido is to overcome oneself instead of cultivating violence or aggressiveness`.

Hertfordshire Health Walks at Mill End Community Centre

Hello everyone,

Hertfordshire Health Walks – Mill End Community Centre – Wednesdays at 11.00 o`clock.
Is a FREE countywide initiative, helping everyone get outdoors, get more active and experience the social, health, and wellbeing benefits. It is also a great social prescribing scheme helping the patient and freeing up GP time aiming to take a holistic approach to improve health. The walks are a great opportunity to meet new people and socialise on a weekly basis within supportive and encouraging volunteer-led groups. Many of our walkers have experienced health and wellbeing benefits such as weight loss, increased confidence, and reduced dependence on diabetic and anti-hypertensive medication and we have seen walkers from Mill End really benefit from all that the walks offer.
